Ollie Hancock


Ollie Hancock is a storyteller, photographer, community organizer marketing strategist, and community-centered creative based in Leadville, Colorado. With a background in Environmental Journalism and a passion for equitable storytelling and Science Literacy, Ollie brings a unique blend of technical skill, leadership experience, and lived knowledge.

Ollie currently serves as the Community Engagement Manager at Mountain Pride, an LGBTQ+ nonprofit where they lead communications, programming, and public engagement across three counties. In this role, Ollie wears many hats, directing marketing, coordinating events, providing peer support, educating the community, and managing partnerships. With deep experience in both the Adobe Creative Suite and Canva, Ollie develops bold, accessible campaigns that reflect the organization’s mission and the needs of its community.

Before entering nonprofit leadership, Ollie established a strong foundation in journalism and visual storytelling. Their photography and reporting have appeared in The New York Times, High Country News, Climbing Magazine, Them, and several local news outlets. Their photojournalism—especially in breaking news and sports—has earned multiple awards from the Society for Professional Journalists and California College Media Association. Ollie also served as a layout editor for a weekly newspaper.

Beyond communications and media, Ollie has worked as a snowboard coach, climbing instructor, environmental educator, and peer group facilitator. They are certified in First Aid, CPR, Wilderness First Aid, and SafeSport, and have trained in trauma-informed leadership and equity-centered journalism.

At the core of all their work is a commitment to inclusion, storytelling, and justice. Ollie’s creative practice centers community voices, uplifts underrepresented narratives, and helps organizations grow with purpose and integrity.
